Siyum Adugna Mamo

Academic Interests:

Having studied Conflict and Peace Studies and Philosophy (both at the master’s level), Siyum’s academic and research interest encompasses broader topics such as violent democracy, political violence, electoral democracy, authoritarianism, populism, violent extremism, peace, conflict, social justice, and the politics of intervention in the context of East Africa. His PhD research aims to unpack the dynamics of democratization and violent democracy taking cases from Ethiopia. The research explores the complex linear relation between democracy and violence in the context of the democratic transition in Ethiopia.
